Keeping Kids Active When It's Cold Outside


In an era of phones, tablets, and other various screens everywhere you look, it has become increasingly difficult to motivate children to be active. This problem is magnified during the winter months when it gets dark out early or is too cold to play outside. But just like adults, kids need exercise year-round to stay healthy. The good news is, even when your little fish isn’t getting his or her exercise at one of our two Little Fishes Swim School locations, there are other activities that can keep your children active from the comfort of your own home. Here are some ways you can keep the kids moving at home this winter:

  • Indoor obstacle course: Use furniture and tape to create a course throughout your home.
  • Dance party: Nothing gets the feet moving like some good tunes.
  • Balloon volleyball: A competitive game without the risk of breaking something.
  • Hallway bowling: Use water bottles and a small rubber ball.
  • Hopscotch: Use tape to make a game on your floor.
  • Scavenger hunt: Hide clues around the house and race to see who can find them all first.
