New Year’s Resolution: Spend more quality time with the family

As 2017 approaches, what resolutions do you have for your school of fish? Consider adding extra time at an indoor pool to the list! When it’s too cold to play outside, the pool is a great place for families to spend quality time together.

The winter months can be blah and boring, and don’t always provide a physical and social activity that everyone can enjoy. Between work, school, extra-curricular activities, and screen time, family time is trending towards endangered species status. Most families struggle to spend significant amounts of time together each day and if they do, it’s not always engaging in a physical activity.

Swimming is a great low-impact, total body workout making it the perfect activity for the wide range of physical needs that exist within families. The buoyance of water is easy on joints, which is beneficial for everyone from infants and toddlers, to an expectant mother, and even grandparents. Splashing around can relieves stress, help alleviate depression and anxiety, and improve asthma symptoms. Games that you can play together - catch, retrieving dive toys, or water volleyball - are great ways to laugh, connect as a family, and even meet new friends. And, have you thought ahead to your family’s summer vacation? Time spent together at a pool during the winter boosts children’s confidence and enthusiasm for the peak summer season.

So on that next cold and blustery day, when everyone is hiding in their room staring at a device, suggest an outing to the pool. It’s a great way to add some fun and exercise into your family’s routine this winter season.
